South Africa and in particular the southern portion around the Eastern Cape and Garden Route to Cape Town is noted worldwide for its beautiful landscapes and wilderness areas.
We would like to invite you to explore the many overnight options we offer you the passengers on the cruise ships, choosing to visit our shores. Spend a night or two at a local game reserve, enjoying the ambiance of the African bush, the sights and sounds of Africa at night and let Alan Tours guide you overland along the famous Garden Route to your next destination be it Mossel Bay or Cape Town
guide you along the incredibly beautiful and remote Wild Coast if your ship is due to dock either in Durban or Richards Bay; we will help you discover a world of traditional cultures, some unchanged for hundreds of years.
Or enjoy a guided day safari to the Addo Elephant National Park
To accommodate the time frame dictated by the cruise ships when visiting our Friendly City, we have created a condensed version of a very popular full day safari of the nearby Addo Elephant National Park.
We pick you up at the quayside in the Port Elizabeth harbour and depart for the National Park, approximately 35 minutes’ drive from the harbour to the entrance. After check in and a comfort break, we immediately start the days game viewing experience.
The park is home to more than 700 free roaming African Elephants and a wide variety of wildlife such as Zebra, Warthog, Red Hartebeest, Ostrich, Kudu, the unique flightless Dung beetle and many more including the traditional BIG 5, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Rhino and of course the Elephants.
Making our way through the park from south to north we stop for a light lunch at the park’s restaurant before once again heading south, game viewing all along the way in this world class facility and drop you off at the Port Elizabeth harbour in good time.
The rate is R 2 200.00 per person sharing the tour vehicle with other passengers from your cruise ship.
Exclusive, private safaris can be arranged on request.
The above day safari includes:
- pick up and drop off at the quayside
- transfers to and from the park and game viewing in the tour vehicle
- entrance/ conservation fee into the park
- light lunch (limited menu) at the park restaurant and a drink per person
- bottled water in tour vehicle
Pick up and drop off time depends on the docking schedule of your ship.
